Nari Garner looked like a normal, everyday kid. She had her backpack slung over her shoulder, and was running through the streets of San Francisco. Except for some things, she looked normal. One of said things were her eyes, which were dark red from hunger, a color no human could usually have without contacts. Another was her look; even as a 13 year old she was gorgeous, with her pale skin, and light brown hair. The strangest thing was her speed and agility. There was no way that any human being could run that fast without crashing into anything.
She turned a corner, and stopped as she reached her destination; the airport. Confidant that she had about two and a half hours to wait before her plane arrived, Nari decided to go hunting. She hadn't eaten in a few days, ever since her last lesson with her creators, she thought.
She was careful about the prey she killed, she couldn't afford to go overboard. Even as a bloodthirsty newborn, she had to keep her cool. If she didn't, she could be tracked down by the Volturi.
The Volturi. She thought the name as if it were a disgusting swear word. Her creators, Leilani and Cail, had told her about the Volturi, the creepy Italians that ruled the vampire world. At least they had no idea that she existed; Leilani had told her that the Volturi liked to get other vampires with unique, powerful talents to join them. Nari shivered to think what they could do if they got ahold of her.
She shook off those thoughts, and examined her prey. A clearly intoxicated man had just staggered out of an alley, singing a messed up version of the theme-song to Dora the Explorer, a bottle of who-knows-what in one of his hands. Nari thought :He's drunk, and probably won't be missed. Here goes nothing: and pounced.
She leaped out of the shadows, and sunk her teeth into his neck. He struggled to push her off, but even if he were sober he probably would have been no match for the gifted teen. She sucked him dry, and proceeded to search him for money. He had about $300 on him, strangely enough. She pocketed the money, and jumped on top of a nearby roof after tossing what was left of him in a dumpster. There was nobody else around, but she picked up a human scent. Nari took off running. She jumped from rooftop to rooftop, searching for the human. At last, she found him. An old man was lying in the street, he had died about five minutes ago from what seemed like a heart attack. She eyed him carefully, then thirst overcame her and she drank.
She ran back to the airport an hour or so later, full, and pulled out her laptop. Nari sent her creators a quick e-mail, then sat on a bench.:
I just made it to the airport, with about half an hour until my plane leaves. I've already hunted, so I think I'll go ahead and check in. Don't worry, I have plenty of time. I'll email you again once I get to Seattle, but the plane ride will take awhile. Thanks for letting me know about the friendly coven in Forks. I might pay them a visit since you both already know them. If you want you can come visit anytime, but I'll mostly be traveling, so I don't know if I'll get to see you for awhile. Keep in touch!
PS: Thanks for the awesome map, Leilani!

When she finished, Nari put away her laptop, and walked slowly towards the airport. After all, she had plenty of time.
She saw some bystanders staring at her, and remembered that her eyes were probably scarlet. She felt like face-palming herself, she should have hunted after the flight! Oh well, nothing to be done about that now.
She picked up her pace, walking towards the door.
